Magdalena Andersson: Sweden’s first female PM resigns just hours after taking role
Magdalena Andersson became Sweden’s first ever female prime minister and was forced to resign just hours later in what was a whirlwind day of Swedish politics.
After losing a budget vote and her junior coalition partner in the space of a few short hours, Andersson said her decision to resign was a matter of “respect”, and added: “I also do not want to lead a government where there may be grounds to question its legitimacy.”
